Kona: the party animal

Kona had a big weekend. She spent two nights in the PetSmart PetsHotel, while we celebrated Alex’s birthday with a weekend away in Fort Collins, Colo. Needless to say, she’s exhausted from spending time in Doggie Day Camp each day. (post continues below)

Meanwhile, Alex and I stayed at the Armstrong Hotel, which was great. We found out that the hotel is pet-friendly; they even have a resident cat, named Oreo. But because they do not have any ground-level rooms, Kona probably won’t be able to stay there with us until she’s all grown up. Otherwise, we might end up spending most of our time there running down the stairs in search of green space for puppy bathroom breaks.

Anyway, Kona received another glowing “Pawgress Report,” which said she was a party animal! It sounds like she made some new friends, too, in Max, a Lab mix, and Lucy, a border collie mix. If you’re surprised she runs with the big dogs, don’t be. When I weighed her last week, she was 48 pounds! (post continues below)

Kona had a carefree, calm and comfy stay.

She’s also almost big enough to start going on hikes. So while we were browsing through some shops this weekend, we picked up some Colorado dog hiking books. Best Hikes with Dogs – Colorado is pretty self-explanatory, while Canine Colorado outlines everything from dog hikes, to dog parks to pet-friendly hotels. We’re hoping the information in these books will lead to many more big weekends to come!

  1. She looks like a pooped pup! Glad she had a good time, which allowed you two a good time.
