happy birthday, Kona

Today is Kona’s first birthday! And I just took a few minutes to look through all of the pictures (more than 500 of them) I’ve taken of her since we picked her up in Illinois last fall. I can’t even describe the cuteness that fills my digital photo albums. So, just look.

Becoming puppy parents has been quite an experience, with lost teeth, bunny chases, obedience classes and plenty of mischief to keep us busy. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I swear I posted about Kona’s half birthday just a few weeks ago. She weighed 35 pounds then. She weighs more than 60 pounds (and counting) now …

That’s enough reminiscing for one post. Let’s move on to the thank-yous. Tonight, they go out to Kona’s “grandparents” for sending cards and treats for her birthday – and, consequently, indulging our view of our dog as our furry child.

In return, I persuaded Kona to pose and avoid eating her cards long enough to get this shot, one only a puppy grandparent could find more precious than obnoxious.

Thanks for the birthday cards ...

... and the treats!
