lucky dog

Kona lucked out yesterday when our veterinarian decided that she didn’t need surgery.

Even though Alex and I had noticed that the irritated, unexplained growths on each of her front paws looked significantly better than they did a week before, we planned to go through with the surgery. We hoped to find out what these growths were after the vet sent samples to a lab for analysis.

The surgery plan included taking away Kona’s food bowl at 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled procedure. We knew she wouldn’t be happy with this scenario, as she likes to graze on her dinner well into the evening. So we encouraged her to eat when we got home from work by putting her food in a kibble-dispensing ball.

Even so, she made it clear she was hungry later when she planted her furry self right where her bowl should have been. She also pawed at her place mat, growled at her water bowl and made a general ruckus. Kona is an expert at sulking; and just in case you’re wondering what that looks like, see below.
